The mission of the "Working Group on Unionization" (WGU) was to promote an educated understanding of the five Unions in question, based on their strengths and weaknesses in our specific sector (all non-unionized University support staff including contract/casual, term appointment, and research grant and contract employees). Our commitment is to honour the process of informing ourselves both individually and collectively.
SELECTION
After extensive research and meetings with all 5 unions, consultation with Queen's staff and others, The "Working Group on Unionization" (WGU) respectfully selects the
United Steelworkers (USW) to start organizing Queen's non-unionized support staff.

All five (5) invited Unions for respecting and honouring our process, providing us with information, correcting our errors, and for participating in this important crucial step for Queen's non-unionized support staff
The Queen's University Faculty Association (QUFA), for their generous financial support which allowed the WGU to hold lunch meetings with Units on campus. This support enabled freedom of speech for many colleagues. For this we are truly grateful.
St. James Church, Barb in particular, for organizing our lunch meetings and for always greeting Queen's Staff with a warm smile and a kind heart.
Fellow Colleagues for taking the time to participate in this process, to educate yourselves on the pros and cons of unionization, and for your endless words of encouragement and appreciation to WGU Members. It was our pleasure to collect and disseminate these details for you, but without your guidance, our "union of choice" would not have become reality.
Our family and friends who have put up with our work on this project - evenings, weekends, early mornings - thank you for your understanding and support.
WHAT'S NEXT?
United Steelworkers (USW) will be setting up an office soon, as well as a new campaign website. There will be a link to that site from this one.
